Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant? Primary Care 24 (PC24) are looking for highly skilled and motivated Healthcare Assistants who will join our bank workforce with opportunities within Primary Care GP practices and Alder Hey Hospital.
Salary: £27,098.00 - £28,333.00 pro rata or £13.86 - £14.25 per hour bank (Depending on department)
Location: Primary Care 24 GP practices in Litherland, Hightown, Crosby, Crossways, Maghull, Thornton, Seaforth, Netherton, Netherley, Garston & Alder Hey Hospital.
Contract: Bank
Shifts: GP practices – Bank Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00, Salaried Litherland Practice - Monday 08:00-15:45. Tuesday 08:00-16:00, Thursday 08:00-16:00 - 22.5 hours. Alder Hey – Monday – Sunday 9am – 9pm (current bank hours available Saturday & Sunday AM & PM, Wednesday PM & Tuesday AM)
What Will You Be Doing
- Onsite in our GP practices: Patient health checks; measuring blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight and urinalysis.
- Be confident in venipuncture process.
- Collect specimens as directed by clinicians.
- Administer vaccinations confidently (under PSD).
- Support long term conditions monitoring; foot checks, peak flow inhaler techniques, blood sugar (BM) readings.
- Assist clinicians with application of non-adherent dressings.
- Act as a chaperone when required.
- Liaise with other services and organisations regarding services provided and current practices to develop best evidence-based practices.
- Complete accurate records consistent with legislation and policy.
- Identify, assess, manage and elevate any risks or incidents and support in sharing best practice.
- Enable patients to access appropriate professional care in the practice team.
- Monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Alder Hey:
- Onsite: Ensuring all clinical rooms are set up before the start of each shift, including checking all medical and IT equipment is in place and working.
- Working as part of an MDT including GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) to ensure smooth running of the service.
- Greeting and checking in patients on the clinical system upon arrival to the Same Day Urgent Care Unit.
- Conducting clinical observations on patients as required.
- Escalating to a senior Clinician immediately if there is any concern about the patient’s clinical condition.
What Do I Need
- NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health & Social care.
- Proven experience of working in a Healthcare environment such as an emergency department, walk in centre or a GP practice for a minimum of 6 months.
- Excellent communication skills and able to adapt to individual’s needs and liaise with multidisciplinary team members, health care professionals and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work across all PC24 sites or Alder Hey Hospital.
