Job responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions and complex needs.
  • Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
  • Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition (as appropriate).
  • Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national/local protocols and within scope of practice.
  • Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication regimens, side-effects and interactions.

Primary Care responsibilities:

  • Undertake comprehensive health assessments for adults and paediatric patients, applying advanced clinical judgment and holistic care planning.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment and interventions for undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
  • Perform clinical examinations and interpret findings from both physiological and psychological perspectives.
  • Manage a clinical caseload with a high degree of autonomy, making safe and timely decisions within agreed governance frameworks.
  • Contribute to a culture of patient safety, quality improvement and effective multidisciplinary working.
  • Maintain professional competence and development in line with regulatory requirements, contributing positively as a senior clinician within the practice team.

Alder Hey responsibilities:

  • Deliver quality individualized care to children and young people with a high level of autonomy underpinned by the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research.
  • Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
  • Within professional boundaries, assess, diagnose and prescribe where appropriate, providing advice and care for children and young people presenting with undiagnosed and undifferentiated illnesses.
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice and national/local protocols, within scope of practice.
  • Practice autonomously while demonstrating a child and young person‑centred approach to meet patient healthcare needs.
  • Establish and maintain excellent professional working relationships with hospital, primary care and wider stakeholder colleagues.

Salary and working arrangements:

  • Salary: £64,876.00 - £66,711.00 per annum (pro rata) for salaried staff, or £33.18 per hour for bank staff.
  • Department: Out of Hours, Primary Care & Alder Hey.
  • Location: Various locations within Merseyside, Sefton & Halton including Wavertree Head Office.
  • Shifts: 24/7 service, full‑time/part‑time and bank positions available (depending on department).

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Full NMC Registration with no restrictions.
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is desirable; candidates working towards this qualification or with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Non‑Medical Prescriber V3.
  • Clinical Examination and Diagnostics Level 7.
  • Experience working autonomously.
  • Experience in urgent care and/or primary care.
