About Sage Medical Center, a subsidiary of Primacorp Ventures, we are a community pharmacy with a dedicated focus on seniors care and assisted living, providing comprehensive medication management to residents across retirement homes and supportive living communities. Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary care team alongside physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, our clinical services include compliance packaging, MedsChecks, minor ailments assessments, and vaccine administration. Position: Nurse Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Business Operations and Growth
Salary Range: $75,000-85,000
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Personnel & Team Leadership
- Recruitment: Manage interview panels, select clinical talent, and oversee unit onboarding.
- Scheduling: Design monthly shift rotations and optimize safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
- Performance: Conduct annual reviews, track clinical competencies, and audit nursing licenses.
- Retention: Resolve team conflicts, manage performance plans, and actively mitigate staff burnout.
- Operational & Clinical Oversight
- Operations: Lead daily huddles with leadership to assess patient census and acuity levels.
- Escalations: Directly resolve complex or volatile patient, family, and visitor complaints.
- Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between nurses, physicians, and ancillary departments.
- Governance: Monitor EHR charting accuracy and ensure meticulous unit documentation.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Budgeting: Develop, present, and closely monitor the annual operational unit budget.
- Supplies: Track medical inventory, approve equipment purchases, and resolve shortages.
- Efficiency: Optimize clinical floor assets and manage overtime and agency/registry spend.
- Quality, Safety, & Compliance
- Compliance: Ensure all floor workflows comply with hospital, provincial, and federal health standards.
- Safety: Investigate clinical mistakes or medication incidents and implement corrective action plans.
- Quality: Lead quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and minimize falls or infections.
Qualifications Required
- Licensure: Current practicing registration in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with BCCNM Professional Standards for Nursing Practice and BC’s mandated minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR).
- Certifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR-C certification.
Preferred
- Leadership Experience: Prior experience serving in a leadership, supervisory, or charge nurse capacity is highly preferred.
- Management Education: Completion of specialized nursing leadership or unit administration courses is an asset.
