Overview
Ticketing and Sales Assistant – Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Prifysgol Aberystwyth University. This is a part-time role (12 hours per week) with a permanent contract and salary £23,914.00 per annum (pro rata).
Location: Aberystwyth, Wales. Employment type: Permanent; Part-Time. Hours: 12 per week. Visa: Non-sponsorable.
What you’ll do
- Staff the box office on a rota basis undertaking transactions using the adopted Ticketsolve ticketing system (or similar).
- Ensure that accurate customer information is obtained; recorded and maintained within the database according to Data Protection policies.
- Respond promptly to telephone queries or voicemail messages and perform required ticket transactions.
- Enter details of performances and events into the ticketing system when requested by section Managers.
- Advise customers on seating arrangements and assist with available options.
- Provide sales reports to visiting companies/agents on a weekly basis.
Front-line and Reception Duties
- Actively promote all Aberystwyth Arts Centre events and provide a friendly, welcoming service to all visitors.
- Communicate fluently in English and Welsh, both orally and in writing.
Finances and Budgets
- The role does not involve budgetary control but requires accounting for box office takings according to approved protocols and financial regulations.
- Run attendance and sales reports for financial analysis as needed; provide summaries of ticketing data on request.
- Reconcile takings at the end of each shift; ensure documentation is recorded, robust, and auditable.
Health and Safety
- Be familiar with and prepared to assist in all fire and emergency evacuation procedures.
Teamwork and Supervision
- Work as part of a team or occasionally alone within agreed protocols; contribute to regular meetings with the Ticket Office and wider Arts Centre team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure customer queries are dealt with promptly.
Administrative and Other Duties
- Undertake basic administrative tasks; communication may be in English or Welsh.
- Work flexibly across seven days, including daytime, weekend and evening hours.

- Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade.
Essential – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Educated to A-level or equivalent.
- Maths GCSE (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
- Experience of working with the general public as a first point of contact.
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to adapt to new software or hardware.
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills; strong communication in English and Welsh.
- Ability to work largely unsupervised with on-call support for queries.
- Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C1.
Desirable
- Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C2.
