About the role
We're hiring a Manager/Assistant Manager for our Innovation & Capital Incentives team to support UK and US clients with R&D tax incentives. You will lead junior software consultants, guiding clients in innovation fields like AI, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. You'll set technical quality standards, conduct key meetings, and simplify complex technical concepts for HMRC and IRS R&D tax compliance. Your role includes coordinating cross-territory deliveries and linking client engineering teams with PwC's tax specialists.
What your days will look like
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor junior software consultants by fostering a collaborative culture focused on coaching, support, and continuous learning, encouraging junior staff to take project ownership and broaden their technical skills.
- Client Engagement and Relationship Management: Drive client engagement in the UK and US by leading technical discussions, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, and supporting business development efforts to grow the R&D pipeline through collaboration and thought leadership.
- Technical Communication and Documentation: Transform complex software and technology concepts into clear narratives for R&D tax claims, ensuring accurate technical documentation and overseeing the preparation and review of reports in line with HMRC and IRS guidance.
- Cross-Functional Coordination and Process Optimization: Collaborate with financial and tax teams to align project insights with cost analysis, identify opportunities for technology and process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency, and ensure comprehensive, high-quality client submissions.
This role is for you if
- Proficient in explaining software development methodologies like Agile and DevOps and identifying R&D in real-world projects.
- Experienced in writing or reviewing code in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, or Go.
- Familiar with modern software architecture patterns, including microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Understands cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP for application development and deployment.
- Experienced with software development tools such as Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks.
- Skilled at translating technical activities for non-technical stakeholders and comfortable discussing projects with engineers or product teams.
