Our Centre of Excellence is key to our audit wide strategy to improve quality, deliver outstanding value to our clients, and create a better experience for our people. A team of technical specialists with knowledge across complex areas of the audit - the Audit CoE is well established in pensions, SBPs and becoming established in the audit of tax, with ambitious growth plans to scale the tax hours delivered.

The Role:

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment auditing a diverse range of clients, spanning a wide variety of industries, from multinational organisations, to private equity and entrepreneurial businesses. We’ll support you to increase your tax technical knowledge through senior level coaching and access to bespoke training, helping you develop deep technical capabilities to evaluate judgements on tax risks and structures. You’ll get to work with a variety of teams across PwC’s global network, including the front line delivery team (FLDT); our offshore Service Delivery Centres; and other specialists & experts to execute the audit. You’ll also build excellent project management skills through the use of the latest technologies available.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for delivering complex audits of tax and liaising with the FLDT and technical specialists;
  • Managing the CoE engagement team - producing and/or reviewing detailed, high quality documentation ensuring full compliance with PwC audit methodology;
  • Providing on the job coaching and support, identifying key tax risk areas and providing timely resolution to challenging tax matters;
  • Demonstrating leadership skills in developing automation within the AoT network.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Be Chartered Accountant / ACA / ACCA / ICAS qualified accountant (or international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience in Audit (including international candidates who technically qualify in their home country by experience);
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS is essential;
  • Strong understanding of audit risk and how this is managed through procedures and documentation;
  • A flexible approach to allow you to work as part of a number of client teams simultaneously;
  • Experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internally;
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to solve complex problems in a collaborative and creative way;
  • A focus on self-development and in the development of others in your teams;
  • Prior tax accounting knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
