About the role

S& M&A Operations focuses on providing support for potential / actual M&A transactions and assists clients in all operational aspects of the transaction, pre and post deal, including:

  • Pre-deal value creation advisory (i.e. helping clients to prepare their business, or parts of their business for sale)
  • Buy and sell side operational due diligence (i.e. reviewing and reporting on the technology risks and value opportunities for the business)
  • Synergy development and review (i.e. helping to develop or providing an external independent review on the level of synergies available from putting two or more businesses together)
  • Carve out and divestment support (i.e. helping to develop the standalone operating model, one-off costs and standalone operating costs of a divestment)
  • Taking control and 100 day planning (i.e. helping our clients to safely take control of the business, manage risks and deliver ‘quick wins’ during the first 100 days of ownership)
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Integration (i.e. helping our clients protect and grow the value of an acquisition, develop a robust and realistic integration plan and then executing on it)
  • Post-acquisition performance improvement (i.e. reviewing where the value might lie in the business and how realistic and sustainable cost savings can be achieved)

What your days will look like:

We are looking for individuals who have industry experience with developing and implementing software platforms and who can help answer the following questions that are typically asked by clients when considering an investment in a technology business or one that is tech-enabled:

  • Is the platform well invested or will I need to spend cash in the short term to address ‘tech debt’?
  • Is the platform well designed and can it support the planned business growth (either through increased scale, acquisition or addressing adjacent markets / territories)?
  • Is the platform (and associated underlying infrastructure) robust and what are the implications in terms of uptime, availability and cost to serve?
  • Do the roadmap initiatives align with and support the business plan?
  • What is the competitive ‘moat’ when it comes to both features and functionality vs peers and the potential that others (such as AI) can address the same market at lower cost?

N.B. Whilst we expect candidates to be able to answer the questions above, we acknowledge and appreciate that candidates may not have experience in all areas (e.g. we expect some will have more experience with software vs infrastructure or product management vs software development).

This role is for you if:

  • You are a technology expert who currently operates in a technical role (i.e. product owner / manager, business analyst, scrum master (or equivalent) or development / UX) within a software / tech-enabled business.

Specific requirements:

  • Have a broad technical understanding of product management and / or software development processes, concepts (especially in an agile environment) roadmaps and timelines;
  • Developed and executed a technology product strategy and vision;
  • Managed one or more development budgets and developed / evaluated R&D return on investments;
  • Planned new features and changes to a product (including research on use cases, market positioning and competitor analysis) and experience in business case creation, detailed functional specifications and wire-frames;
  • Prototyped and demonstrated new product ideas / features to stakeholders and built consensus for approval;
  • A track record of developing and launching products, including customer implementation and / or supporting technical sales and support functions.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions. We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
