We help organisations navigate complexity, redesign how they operate and deliver transformation programmes that drive measurable performance improvement.

We are a highly motivated, collaborative and diverse team with deep expertise across consumer-facing industries, commercial operations, supply chain and technology-enabled change. Our work spans target operating model design and implementation, organisational and process redesign, commercial and supply chain transformation, cost reduction, governance improvement and benefits realisation. We help consumer markets clients simplify ways of working, improve end-to-end supply chain performance, strengthen commercial capability and support sustainable growth.

This is an opportunity to join a growing Consumer Markets team working with clients facing rapid change driven by shifting consumer behaviours, margin pressure, digital disruption, sustainability demands and evolving channel strategies. As a Director, you will provide strategic direction, commercial leadership and operational oversight to drive profitable growth, high-quality delivery and market differentiation. You will lead and scale the Enterprise Strategy capability within Consumer Markets - setting the direction for our team, leading complex multi-workstream engagements, developing senior client relationships and coaching future leaders. The role works closely with Partners, Managing Directors and leaders across Consulting to unlock market opportunities and build a distinctive, market-leading proposition.

What your days will look like:

  • You will work with leading consumer markets organisations in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment, providing strategic direction and senior leadership to help design and implement new ways of working at scale.
  • The role involves setting the strategic agenda for engagements, leading senior client relationships, overseeing complex multi-workstream delivery, and driving growth of our Enterprise Strategy capability across Consumer Markets.

You will lead our team to deliver a range of assignments including:

  • Strategy & Delivery
    • Directing target operating model design and implementation programmes, overseeing business analysis, functional decomposition, organisational design, governance and capability design across consumer markets businesses - ensuring alignment to broader corporate strategy and value creation objectives.
    • Leading and shaping enterprise-wide transformations, with a particular focus on commercial, supply chain and technology functions - including pricing, route-to-market, demand planning, sourcing, logistics and fulfilment.
    • Shaping and directing AI and agentic transformation initiatives, helping consumer markets clients identify high-value use cases, design target operating models that embed AI and agentic capabilities, and realise value from intelligent automation across commercial and supply chain functions.
    • Providing senior oversight of programme delivery, including planning, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, value realisation and benefits tracking - ensuring transformation programmes deliver measurable financial and operational outcomes with accountability at board level.
    • Leading and quality-assuring the preparation of analysis, reports, SteerCo materials and recommendations - presenting directly to C-suite and board-level client stakeholders.
  • Business Development & Growth
    • Leading business development and pipeline generation across Consumer Markets - identifying opportunities with existing and target clients, developing compelling propositions, and driving pursuits through to close.
    • Building and maintaining deep, trusted client relationships at C-suite level, acting as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and developing account growth strategies that identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across Consulting and the wider firm.
    • Leading the development of proposals, pitches and commercial constructs, including pricing, resourcing and delivery models, ensuring competitive and profitable positioning.
    • Shaping go-to-market propositions in areas of strategic priority - such as AI-enabled transformation, supply chain redesign and operating model change - to differentiate our offering in the market.
    • Building and leveraging a strong network of senior contacts across the consumer markets landscape - including C-suite executives, private equity partners and industry bodies - to generate new business and position PwC as a trusted advisor.
    • Contributing to thought leadership, market eminence and brand-building activities including publications, speaking engagements, roundtables and industry events.
    • Collaborating with Partners, Managing Directors and leaders across Consulting, Deals and other business units to bring integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions to market.
  • Leadership & People
    • Coaching and developing Senior Managers and wider team members, building future leadership capability and ensuring a strong pipeline of talent within the Consumer Markets practice.

This role is for you if you have:

  • Significant experience in operating model design, business transformation, programme delivery or large-scale change within the Consumer Markets sector (retail, FMCG, consumer goods, food and beverage, leisure or hospitality), gained in consulting or industry at a senior level.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of: commercial transformation (e.g. pricing, revenue management, trade investment, route-to-market, category management), supply chain transformation (e.g. demand planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, fulfilment) or technology transformation and implementation (e.g. ERP, CRM, supply chain platforms) - with a strong understanding of how these disciplines intersect to drive operating model redesign.
  • Awareness of and interest in AI, agentic AI and intelligent automation, with the ability to help clients explore how these capabilities can be embedded within target operating models to drive efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Experience in process improvement and re-engineering across core commercial and supply chain functions.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the challenges facing consumer markets businesses, including margin pressure, changing consumer behaviours, channel proliferation, supply chain disruption, sustainability requirements, digital transformation and the need for commercial agility.
  • Proven ability to lead complex stakeholder environments and build trusted relationships with C-suite and board-level clients across commercial, supply chain, finance, procurement, operations, technology and corporate functions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and present clear, well-structured analysis, reports and recommendations to senior and board-level audiences.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience of pipeline generation, proposal leadership, project profitability management and budget oversight.
