About this role

PwC's national Private Business team helps clients access the tax incentives and allowances that support investment, innovation and growth, across capital allowances, R&D tax incentives and Patent Box. Our clients range from multinationals and public sector bodies to entrepreneurs and family businesses. We are looking for an experienced Director to grow our Private Business proposition, provide senior technical and delivery leadership, and build the capability and profile of our national capital allowances team. This national role can be based in any UK PwC office, although the South and South East is a strategic priority. Some UK travel will be expected.

What your days will look like

  • Building and owning senior relationships with privately owned, entrepreneurial and private-equity-backed businesses, originating opportunities and converting them into lasting client engagements and a strong pipeline.
  • Providing authoritative technical leadership on complex or sensitive capital allowances matters, and overseeing high-quality advice and claims with senior responsibility for quality, risk and commercial performance.
  • Working across PwC, particularly Private Business, to join up capital allowances, R&D and Patent Box expertise around clients' investment and innovation agendas.
  • Leading, coaching and developing our people, contributing to an inclusive, high-performing national team, and using technology, data and AI to improve quality, client experience and delivery efficiency.

This role is for you if

  • You have deep UK capital allowances expertise, with a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience, and the credibility to lead senior client conversations.
  • A strong record advising on significant capital investment, property and construction expenditure.
  • Proven business development experience, building senior relationships and converting opportunities into enduring client engagements, ideally within the Private Business market.
  • Strong commercial judgement, balancing growth, quality, risk, client experience and financial performance.
  • Experience as an inclusive leader who develops people and collaborates across a large, networked organisation.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset to build and grow a business, with curiosity about using technology, data and AI to improve delivery.

What you’ll receive from us

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions. We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
