We are looking for a senior investment consultant to take a lead role in growing PwC's investment ALM advisory business. Asset allocation, new assets, capital efficiency, long-term projections and stress testing are areas of growing focus for life insurers, Lloyds & non-life firms, pension funds and asset managers serving these sectors.
Based in the Life team within our AI & Modelling business unit, the team advises in all these areas and faces strong demand in this growing area. We support clients in developing strategic asset allocation (SAA), investment operating model, investment outsourcing, capital modelling, risk management and product design.
What your day will look like:
- Developing capital market assumptions framework and economic scenario generation to model long term asset returns to support business strategy.
- Fields including new products (LTAF, Collective DC, structured solutions) and transactions (e.g. pension superfund transactions, M&A, insurance solutions).
- Advising on firms' investment operating model including use of technology and in/outsourcing of asset management.
- Advising on structuring capital efficient assets (such as assets with "highly predictable" cashflows).
- Investment expert contribution to wider capital & actuarial projects.
The skills and experience we're looking for:
- Must be a qualified actuary or hold a similar level qualification (e.g. CFA) or have equivalent work experience.
- Significant technical and commercial experience in ALM, investment strategy or solutions team within UK consultancy or asset manager.
- Experience overseeing technical ALM modelling (python an advantage).
- Experience managing a commercial proposition, including contracting & leading high performing teams with autonomy in a "network" environment.
- Strong understanding of insurance and pensions investment risk management:
- Asset-liability management, SAA (e.g. capital asset pricing model and return on capital metrics).
- Long-term asset returns modelling (e.g. stochastic and scenario analysis).
- Practical implementation by asset managers and insurers (front office and back office).
- Private debt investment lifecycle and credit rating methodologies.
