One of those rarely-advertised opportunities for an experienced lawyer to take over as head of department where a following is not a prerequisite. A well-established and highly regarded law firm is seeking an ambitious Senior Employment Lawyer to lead its Employment Law offering following the planned departure of its current Head of Employment, with the mandate to grow the department and build the team further. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Employment Lawyer looking to take the next step in their career, combining high-quality work with shaping an employment law department and driving future growth.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for an established employment caseload while playing a key role in the strategic development of the practice. You will be advising both respondent and high-end claimants on a variety of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters including, inter alia:

  • Redundancy and restructuring projects
  • Settlement agreements
  • Employment contracts, handbooks and policies
  • Employment Tribunal claims, including advocacy
  • TUPE
  • Disciplinary and grievance issues

You will have an existing client base to tap into, some of which are on a retainer basis, as well as excellent cross-selling opportunities within the firm including advising on the employment aspects arising from the firm’s corporate transactional matters.

Due to the structure of the team and the largely unsupervised nature of this role the firm expects that the successful applicant will likely have accrued circa 8+yrs PQE within the employment law sector, and will be able to point to a strong track record of both providing high quality technical advice and also a proven ability to manage and develop client relationships. Previous supervisory experience is also advantageous, whilst experience of conducting advocacy at tribunal is strongly preferred.

This opportunity offers significantly more than a traditional fee-earning role as the firm is looking for someone who can help shape the future direction of the Employment department and build upon an already successful client base. The firm offers an attractive remuneration package, a clear leadership role, a supportive and collaborative culture and the opportunity to work with a high-quality client base whilst building the practice further.

If you are an experienced Employment Solicitor seeking a leadership opportunity with the platform, support and autonomy to build a thriving practice area, we would love to hear from you. To discuss in absolute confidence call Greg Reid at Price Richardson or forward your CV using the ‘apply’ link.
