What you will do:
- On receipt of a claim notification, identify the relevant risk, policy coverage, deductibles, limits and applicable conditions, and promptly acknowledge the claim to the client/intermediary.
- Review policy wordings, slips, endorsements, schedules and any related documentation to assess coverage and determine the most appropriate claims strategy.
- Prepare, maintain and update accurate claims files and internal/external claims systems in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Present claims to insurers clearly and effectively, whether in written form, via market systems or through direct negotiation.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to secure fair, timely and appropriate claims outcomes.
- Liaise with clients, producers, placing brokers, insurers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, surveyors, valuers, forensic accountants, lawyers, restorers, security consultants and other experts as required.
- Manage claims involving fine art, jewellery, watches, precious metals, bullion, cash, specie, vault risks, ATMs, exhibition/transit risks and related high-value assets.
- Monitor insurers’ agreement and payment of funds, ensuring prompt settlement to the appropriate beneficiary.
- Identify and elevate coverage issues, claims disputes, delays, potential errors and omissions, or any matters requiring senior management involvement.
- Ensure relevant insurer instructions are communicated to clients and experts, and that client instructions are appropriately relayed to insurers and other interested parties.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and service providers by acting in a professional, responsive and commercially aware manner.
- Support the production of claims statistics, loss analysis and claims reports for client meetings, renewals, stewardship reviews and market presentations.
- Work closely with placing and broking colleagues to provide claims insight for renewals, new business opportunities and policy wording improvements.
- Ensure effective liaison with accounting teams regarding collection, payment and reconciliation of claims funds.
- Maintain knowledge of market developments, claims trends, legal decisions, sanctions requirements and regulatory changes affecting Fine Art, Jewellery and Specie claims.
- Monitor workload and report significant claims, trends, service issues or operational risks to management as appropriate.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
What you will bring:
- Strong understanding of the general principles of insurance and reinsurance, including claims handling, policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and market practice.
- Good knowledge of the Law of Agency and the Law of Contract as it applies to insurance claims and client/market relationships.
- Working knowledge of London Market claims practices, documentation, procedures and systems.
- Understanding of the role of insurers, reinsurers, adjusters, lawyers, surveyors and other experts in the claims process.
- Awareness of relevant regulatory requirements, including conduct risk, financial crime, sanctions, anti-money laundering and complaints handling.
- Knowledge of claims settlement processes, bordereaux, accounting procedures and payment controls.

- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and relevant claims/market systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience handling insurance claims, preferably within the London Market or specialist insurance environment.
- Previous experience in Fine Art, Jewellery, Specie, Private Client, Marine Cargo, Property, Financial Lines or Specialty Claims would be advantageous.
- Experience dealing with insurers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, lawyers and other claims professionals.
- Strong understanding of claims procedures, policy coverage and market practice.
- Relevant insurance qualifications, such as Cert CII, Dip CII or progress towards ACII, would be desirable.
- Experience managing high-value, complex or sensitive claims is preferred.
