About the PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI’s three distinct capabilities relate to the core elements of the PRI’s approach to achieving a sustainable financial system:

  • Translate RI (Responsible Investment) thought leadership into insights and practical support that is tailored to what signatories need to progress their RI practice.
  • Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action.
  • Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change.

The Specialist, Progression and Innovation supports the development and update of the content of PRI’s Pathways framework for signatories. Pathways are educational journeys signatories can follow to advance their responsible investment practices, tailored to them. The journeys offer access to curated PRI resources, best practices and guidelines on how to implement these. The role encompasses research, analysis, and project and stakeholder management to support the implementation and updates of the Pathways framework. It involves engaging and consulting with expert teams across the PRI and engagement with signatories. Additionally, the role includes developing expertise in advanced Responsible Investment approaches that aid signatories in their educational journeys. The Specialist will report to the Head, Progression and Innovation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and future development of the Pathways framework.
  • Coordinate the ongoing mapping and development of PRI and external resources to the Pathways.
  • Support engagement with signatories to drive adoption of the Pathways, including participation in outreach events where needed.
  • Brief and advise PRI teams and signatories on implementation of the framework.
  • Develop knowledge on advanced practices in Responsible Investment, such as system-level investing, investor impact, and stewardship.
  • Support the building and maintenance of relationships with key partner organisations relevant to the framework.
  • Support the implementation and updating of the framework, reflecting feedback and experience gained by PRI colleagues through their engagement with signatories.

Person Specification

  • Subject matter expertise in responsible investment.
  • Experience working within the investment management industry (asset owner, asset manager or asset servicing organisation).
  • Good understanding of the practice areas such as investment analysis and decision-making, setting targets, stewardship, manager selection and monitoring, collaboration or impact investing, and/or of the sustainability issues or asset class specificities that should inform the implementation of the framework.
  • Expertise in solution driven product approach, aligning product development with client requirements and expectations.
  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Identifies trends (and risks) and solves problems in a structured and rigorous way with a view to making improvements.
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis is a plus.
  • Good stakeholder and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate the work of multiple stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others, committed to fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Self-starter with ability to work autonomously.
  • Comfortable with working in a global organisation and working independently as required.
  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills.
  • Language skills, other than English, are desirable.
