We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IoT Installer to join our growing team. As a technology scale-up, we are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with strong experience in installing external hardware. Experience with environmental monitoring equipment or similar is desirable. Experience of undertaking works under traffic management measures and holding relevant certificates or training (e.g NRSWA, low-risk confined spaces) are beneficial, although training will be provided.

The IoT Installer will support delivery of the day-to-day operational aspects of Previsicos sensor solutions in the UK, supporting other geographies, as appropriate, including but not limited to undertaking preliminary site visits to gauge technical requirements for sensor instrumentation and undertaking device installations and maintenance operations, and associated activities, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

As the IoT Installer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead on the installation of Previsicos sensors in a variety of locations and for a variety of purposes, above and/or below-ground. This includes coverage across the UK and may require overnight stays.
  • Provide support during preliminary site visits to gauge technical requirements prior to hydrological sensor instrumentation.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders on site (e.g. Environment Agency, Drainage Boards, SEPA, Natural Resources Wales, Lead Local Flood Authorities) to gain permissions prior to sensor(s) installation, as appropriate.
  • Effectively adopt and utilise Previsicos field service management system and related system(s).
  • Plan, manage and/or deliver works prior to installation e.g. the planning and/or delivery of traffic management measures, as appropriate, and in line with your level(s) of qualification and experience.
  • Complete forms and/or reports, summarising findings from site surveys and installations.
  • Assist with aspects of the day-to-day delivery and maintenance of sensors within the UK, supporting other geographies, as appropriate.
  • Support on undertaking site audits to ensure pre- and post-installation works are completed to an appropriate standard; this includes coverage across the UK and may require overnight stays.
  • Support the delivery of additional workforce training, as appropriate, and with support from the wider sensors team.
  • Assist the Sensor Operations Lead with monthly stock checks and inventory management.
Person specification

You should demonstrate competence in most (preferably all) of the following:

  • Experience of installing external hardware e.g. CCTV, with additional experience of environmental monitoring equipment would be advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental Services or a discipline relevant to the role.
  • A full UK driving licence (required).
  • Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
  • Experience of implementing or undertaking works under traffic management measures.
  • Use of and maintenance of power tools and equipment.
  • Certificates/training relevant to the role e.g. CSCS, NRSWA, low risk confined spaces.
  • Computer literacy with experience of using at least basic Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to overcome issues.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and engage with customers.
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging environment, prioritise tasks effectively, and respond promptly to changing conditions and priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Passion for reducing the impact of natural hazards, globally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
