Are you a senior fire door estimator ready to step into a leadership role — and be rewarded for the client relationships you bring with you? Preventr is one of the UK's fastest growing fire safety groups with a headcount of 135+ people, delivering fire door manufacturing, supply, and installation under BM TRADA Q-Mark accreditation, as well as a full suite of fire stopping services.

Our fire doors are manufactured in our own Wakefield facility. As we scale, we're building out a dedicated estimating function — and we need the right person to lead it. This is a rare opportunity to lead an experienced team and shape the future of the department, with a genuine commercial stake in the function's success.

The Role

As Estimating Manager, you'll own the fire door (manufacturing) estimating output across the business. You'll lead a small estimating team (3), triage and allocate incoming tender workloads, set quality standards, and provide final-sign-off expertise on complex or high-value submissions. You'll work closely with our commercial, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure our pricing is competitive, accurate, and compliant.

You'll use RapidSpec as your primary estimating platform alongside the Microsoft 365 suite, and Preventr's own technology, with occasional site visits as required. Beyond the technical function, this role carries a commercial dimension — candidates who bring existing client relationships or the ability to develop new business will be recognised and rewarded accordingly through our quarterly bonus scheme.

What We're Looking For

  • Essential - Minimum 3 years' experience estimating fire door manufacturing, with at least some team leadership or mentoring experience
  • Deep working knowledge of BM TRADA Q-Mark certification requirements and scheme obligations
  • Strong command of UK fire door regulations — BS 8214, Approved Document B, The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Confident in pricing strategy, cost planning, and quantity surveying principles applied to fire door programmes
  • Ability to triage workload, manage deadlines across multiple live tenders, and maintain quality under pressure
  • Proficiency in RapidSpec (ideally) or similar and Microsoft 365
  • Commercially minded — existing client relationships or a track record of supporting business development is a strong advantage

Bonus Scheme

This role carries a performance bonus of up to £10,000 per year, paid quarterly, tied to two measures:

  • Tender conversion rate — rewarding the quality and competitiveness of your estimating output
  • New business sales — for candidates who generate new business, additional quarterly payments reflect the revenue introduced

Full details of the bonus structure will be provided at offer stage.

What We Offer

  • Competitive basic salary, commensurate with experience
  • Car allowance
  • Performance bonus — up to £10,000 per year, paid quarterly
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, increasing based on exceptional performance
  • Monday to Friday — no weekends
  • Fully remote or hybrid working — offices in City of London, Poole, and Wakefield
  • Laptop provided
  • Vitality Private Health Insurance including private GP, private prescriptions, employee assistance programme, and counselling sessions — plus the full Vitality member benefits suite: 50% off Virgin Active, Nuffield Health, and PureGym memberships; 25% off Gymshark; annual health checks; 12-month Headspace subscription; discounts on Mindful Chef, Expedia, and Mr & Mrs Smith hotels, and more
  • Travel expenses covered in line with company policy

Why This Role, Why Now

Preventr is growing rapidly across social housing, commercial, and public sector clients. The estimating function is being built to match that ambition. As Estimating Manager, you'll have the resource, the authority, and the senior backing to build something lasting — with a clear mandate to raise standards, develop the team beneath you, and put your own stamp on how we go to market.
