Pretzl is redefining what a B2B marketing agency can be. As a B2B Technology-and-People-as-a-Service (TaPaaS) agency with approx. 350 people globally, we're not just advising clients - we're building the technology that transforms how businesses connect with their buyers. Our flagship product, Journey Lab is changing the game for buyer journey optimisation.
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Journey Lab squad and help us strengthen how the product is shaped, built, and operated. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to be handed fully specified tickets and churn out code. We need engineers who want to be involved earlier in the product process, working alongside product and design while problems are still being clarified, trade-offs are being discussed, and the right solution is still emerging.
You’ll be a technical leader within a tight-knit team of 4 developers, 1 designer, and 1 product owner. You’ll own complex features end-to-end, help break larger product opportunities into coherent vertical slices, contribute to the architectural direction of the platform, mentor other engineers, and help raise the standard for how we plan, build, review, and ship work.
This is a fully remote role with the expectation to travel to London a maximum of once per month.
What You'll Actually Do
- Technical Leadership
- Own delivery of medium-to-large features from early shaping through to production deployment.
- Help turn ambiguous product problems into clear technical approaches, sensible delivery plans, and coherent vertical slices.
- Use AI tooling thoughtfully, treating tools like Cursor and Claude Code as collaborators that help you explore solutions through questioning.
- Make architectural decisions within your domain and clearly articulate trade-offs.
- Design solutions that are maintainable, testable, and appropriately scalable.
- Lead debugging efforts for complex issues and identify systemic problems, not just symptoms.
- Write code that serves as an example for the team.
- Product and Design Collaboration
- Work directly with product leadership, design, and your squad to shape solutions that meet user needs.
- Bring engineering judgement into definition conversations before work is fully specified.
- Help clarify gaps, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs before they become delivery blockers.
- Work with design early enough to understand the intended user experience.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and raise risks before they become critical.
- Delivery Quality
- Own delivery quality as well as implementation.
- Break larger product opportunities into small, reviewable, outcome-connected pieces of work.
- Create clear technical plans and pull requests that explain the reasoning behind the implementation.
- Ensure work is meaningfully tested and production-ready.
- Keep changes focused, understandable, and maintainable.
- Surface uncertainty early rather than allowing unclear work to drift into delivery.
- Team Development
- Actively mentor and collaborate with other engineers, investing in their growth through pairing, code reviews, and feedback.
- Help other engineers build stronger product judgement, not just stronger technical execution.
- Create opportunities for others to take on stretch work.
- Champion engineering practices that improve clarity, quality, and pace.
- Contribute to hiring and onboarding activities.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines strong engineering judgement with genuine product curiosity. You do not need to be a product manager, but you should care about why something matters, how users will experience it, and whether the solution being shaped is the right one.
Essential:
- Genuine interest in product and product evolution.
- Strong experience with modern web technologies. Our stack is SvelteKit, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Proven ability to own and deliver complex features independently.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and help turn it into clear, shippable, well-sequenced work.
- Strong product collaboration skills, including the ability to challenge, clarify, and shape work constructively.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Track record of mentoring and developing other engineers.
- Pragmatic approach to technical trade-offs and technical debt management.
- Confident using AI development tools, such as Cursor, to enhance your workflow while maintaining code quality and understanding.
- A strong delivery mindset, including clear planning, meaningful testing, readable pull requests, and early risk escalation.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in B2B marketing or related domains.
- Previous experience working in product-led engineering teams.
Deal-breakers:
- If you’re looking for a role where you only pick up tickets and code, this isn’t for you.
- If you prefer product and design decisions to be fully resolved before engineering gets involved, this isn’t for you.
- If you use AI tools to generate code you cannot explain or maintain, this isn’t for you.
Our Tech Stack
- Frontend: SvelteKit, TypeScript
- Backend: Node.js, TypeScript
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker
