Role Overview:
As a Designer at Pretty Pragmatic, you’ll work with the Creative Lead and wider agency team to develop captivating creative work for clients who really appreciate what we do for them. The main elements of the role are:
- Website design – creating websites that really stand out, working with our Creative Developer, UX experts and Creative Technology Director along with the wider PP team to take wireframes and bring them to life in exciting ways.
- Campaign creation – developing ads and campaign assets for marketing activity – from social ads to print collateral.
- Concepting & ideas – coming up with fresh and interesting ideas for new marketing activity – be it ads, interfaces, or brand identities.
- Brand development – creating brand identities, from logo ideation right through to brand guidelines & asset rollout.
- Moments of motion – occasionally you’ll also work with motion to create animated elements and editing together video content. This isn’t a huge part of the role, but it’s good to have some experience and enjoy this too.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll have a number of years’ experience working in a design role within an agency or in-house marketing department. You’ll have initiative, ideas, and good energy. You’ll work both as part of a team and individually, so we want someone who has a proactive approach, takes ownership of the projects they work on, can work autonomously and knows how to make the most of the time available to concept, craft and finesse great creative outputs.
Particular skills you’ll have:
- Excellent working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign
- Fantastic with Figma
- Happy getting hands on with After Effects
- Confident designing websites from wireframes
- Experience presenting creative ideas
- A self-starter who doesn’t need a lot of hand-holding
Along with that, there’s a few key traits that will make you the perfect fit:
- A lover of ideas – you’ll enjoy coming up with ideas, from big brand & campaign thinking to clever little digital interactions.
- A creative crafter – you’ll be able to critique and craft your work to take it up a notch.
- A devil in the detail – you like to make sure the details of the design do the idea justice.
- A confident communicator – you’ll be comfortable sharing your ideas and building them with the creative team.
- A fun lover – we’re here to enjoy what we do and want you to add to the fun too.

We work a lot with restaurants, pubs, hotels, and event venues – generally, you’ll work a lot with hospitality, food and drink brands – but we also have a range of clients in other industries to mix it up a bit.
We have four internal principles for how we work:

We’re based in Bristol and looking for someone who will be able to work from our lovely studio space in The Paintworks at least three days a week.
If you’re excited about this opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
