As a SEO & Content Strategist at Pretty Pragmatic, you’ll work with the agency team to create great performing websites and digital content plans, resulting in outstanding outcomes for clients in hospitality and beyond who really appreciate what we do for them. No recruitment agencies please.

The main elements of the role will be:

  • SEO Strategy – carrying out keyword research and spotting new opportunities for clients, and where content is most needed to capture relevant traffic.
  • SEO Reviews – using our range of tools to review SEO performance and identify areas where improvements can be made.
  • Content Strategy – working with the wider agency team to create great websites, articles and blogs.
  • SEO Guidance - collaborating with our wider team to help improve SEO performance across a range of different clients, spanning technical and content consultancy.
  • CMS Management – ensuring the sites you manage are optimised, working within the CMS, and collaborating with our Development team for any technical improvements.
  • Reporting – creating monthly reports analysing performance and making strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Analytics - working within GA4, SEMrush, Search Console & Google Tag Manager, to discover useful insights to inform your strategies.
  • New website builds – contributing to new website builds with sitemap plans, analysis of existing website, competitor reviews, wireframing and briefing design and tech teams to help them create highly engaging websites that perform.
  • User Experience – reviewing website user experience and optimising for the various customer journeys, using tools such as Clarity.
  • CRO – optimising websites for conversions, using Analytics and other tools to ensure the website is set up for commercial success.

We’re looking for someone with at least a few years of agency or in-house SEO and digital marketing experience. This isn’t a copywriting role, so if that’s your bag, this one’s not for you. You’ll be very familiar with GA4, Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager, as well as SEO tools such as SEMrush and UX tools like Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar. You’ll be a confident presenter and clear communicator, able to translate complex insights into language and actions that clients can see the value in.

Along with that, there are a few key traits that will make you the perfect fit:

  • A curious character – you’ll be eager to know how things are going, what could be improved and stay on top of the latest trends.
  • A keen bean – you’ll be inquisitive and want to learn new things as you go.
  • An impact maker – you’ll be eager to know how your work performs and want to use that knowledge to make your work even more powerful.
  • A devil in the detail – you’ll be comfortable in the minutiae and getting stuck into the details, whilst also being able to talk about it with clients without boggling them.
  • A fun lover – we’re here to enjoy what we do and want you to add to the fun, too.

Working at Pretty Pragmatic: So that’s enough about you, what about us? We’re Pretty Pragmatic. The marketing agency combining creative flair with deep digital know-how, and the people delivering sensational strategies that just make sense. We make brands perform, setting the stage for our clients to win over their audiences with charismatic content, outstanding sites, beautiful brands, compelling campaigns, and super search visibility. We work a lot with restaurants, pubs, hotels, and event venues – generally, you’ll work a lot with hospitality, food and drink brands – but we also have a range of clients in other industries to mix it up a bit.

We have four internal principles for how we work:

  • Basics, Then Brilliance – we do the basics well. Then find ways to go beyond.
  • Build Us Up – We’re team players, sharing our skills, collabing and backing each other.
  • Drive It Forward – we’re proactive with ideas, action, and communication.
  • Pride Over Profit – We have passion for the work we create and the results we deliver.

Along with this, we offer 25 days holiday and your birthday off – as we all need to enjoy some R&R! You'll also gain an extra day of holiday for each year of tenure at PP, up to an additional 4 days. We also have an annual £500 training allowance per person for your development to make sure you’re continually progressing, insightful masterclasses to share knowledge across the teams, 'Healthy Habits' wellness allowance, pension, Headspace subscription, a week each year where you can ‘work from anywhere’, monthly 'Players' Player awards, increasing holidays with tenure, Thursday pastries from Harts (plus healthy alternatives) and a range of other PP perks. We’re based in Bristol and looking for someone who will be able to work from our lovely studio space in The Paintworks at least three days a week. If you’re excited about this opportunity, we’d love to hear from you, your CV and we’ll be in touch.
