The Company: Pretoria Energy is an ambitious, rapid-growth, renewable energy business at the cutting edge of globally relevant, green biotechnologies. Our in-house Engineering team is growing to support continued expansion and development of specialist green-energy, anaerobic digestion technologies in conjunction with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation, bio-methane production and carbon capture.

The Role: Reporting directly to the Head of Electrical, we require two qualified / experienced Electrical Maintenance Technicians to join our team, working on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern (days only) across our anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities, based near Ely, Cambridgeshire. The work is varied and interesting and will have a direct impact on the business. This is an exciting opportunity in a fast-moving environment where no two days are the same. The primary focus will be to carry out electrical repairs and maintenance in accordance with the schedules set by the maintenance managers. Due to the nature of the inter-dependent technologies involved, hands-on confidence with mechanical work is necessary. You will be required to perform repairs, maintenance & installation, electrical testing, inspection and fault-finding to a high standard. It is important that work is done in a timely and organized manner, is of high-quality whilst always adhering to Health & Safety best practice. You will also be responsible for the relevant record keeping of work via the use of company maintenance logging systems.

The Person: You will be an Electrical Maintenance Technician with industrial background confident with mechanical applications and the ability to manage your workload effectively. You will be able to demonstrate your versatility, resourcefulness and resilience through proven success in Breakdown repair, Maintenance & Installation at previous roles. The ability to work independently, methodically and in a timely manner as part of a team is important. You will be prepared and able to work in an agricultural environment, primarily outdoors, in all weather.

Experience: We would consider suitably qualified and trained candidates with less experience at an appropriate salary level. Experience must include:

  • Breakdowns, Maintenance & Installation
  • Fault finding and investigation
  • Control Panel modification
  • 3 Phase Systems
  • Safety Circuits
  • Motor Testing
  • Inverter Drives
  • 4-20 mA signals

Desirable experience:

  • PLC Knowledge – inputs and outputs
  • SCADA and Networks – understanding and fault-finding
  • Computer literate
  • Emergency Lighting – Testing, replacement and addition of lights
  • 11kv - switching and diagnosis
  • CCTV – maintenance and servicing
  • Mechanical Experience – Augers, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, valves, etc.

Qualifications (Desirable):

  • HNC, NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
  • City & Guilds 2391, 2392 or equivalent experience
  • Electrical Regulations 16th Edition onwards
