A Construction Project Manager to join a team delivering new store openings and refurbishments across the UK. The role oversees projects from feasibility and design through on-site execution and handover, ensuring each shop meets Pret’s standards for quality, safety and operational readiness. Working closely with acquisition teams, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders, this role drives efficient, compliant and cost-effective project delivery to support Pret’s growth and investment in its estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Acquisition Team by assessing the feasibility of potential new site locations, identifying risks, projecting timelines and budgets, and contributing to efficient, scalable and sustainable expansion across the UK & Ireland.
- Oversee end-to-end new store construction projects from initial feasibility and design coordination through to handover and permissions to trade, ensuring all stores are delivered to Pret’s quality and operational standards.
- Manage project timelines, budgets and quality, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within approved financial parameters.
- Lead and coordinate external partners including contractors, architects, engineers and specialist consultants to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Deliver a proportion of the UK & I renovation programme, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and all relevant legal standards, while managing out-of-hours refurbishment works with minimal disruption to operations.
- Build, manage and maintain strong supplier and contractor partnerships to ensure cost effectiveness, reliable performance and consistent quality.
- Collaborate closely with consultants throughout the pre-construction phase, ensuring accurate reporting of key milestones and project readiness.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear updates, reports and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive high standards of quality, efficiency and continuous improvement across all construction and refurbishment activities.
- Ensure timely and thorough project close-out, including final inspections, documentation and handover to operational teams.
- Track project costs for benchmarking, open up visibility and highlight areas to focus cost management control.
Experience & Skills Required
- Experience managing multi-site retail or hospitality construction projects.
- Experience working on construction projects within travel hubs (e.g., airports, train stations) is desirable but not required.
- Capability across both pre-construction oversight (feasibility, design, planning) and on-site delivery (execution, contractor management).
- Thorough understanding of CDM regulations, compliance requirements and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder-management and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience building and managing supplier/contractor relationships to drive value and quality.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a passion for delivering exceptional results while upholding Pret’s brand and operational standards.
