About the Role
We are seeking a 2nd Chef to join our team at Heatherfields. This role will support the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in creating and maintaining cooking and cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodic) for all areas of the kitchen in line with the company’s quality philosophy.
- Ensure that any special dietary meals are prepared correctly.
- Maintain food stock controls in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Manage and update an inventory of kitchen equipment in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Ensure food handling, cleanliness, health and safety, and all procedures within the meal preparation areas operate to the highest possible standards.
- Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work in the care home, providing guidance where appropriate.
- Understand and implement the care home’s Health and Safety policy, as well as Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Promote safe working practice in the care home.
