We are currently recruiting for a Second Chef to work Full-Time. About the Role

In this role, a Second Chef will support the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, well-balanced, home‑cooked meals that meet residents’ dietary needs, preferences and specialist nutritional requirements within a care home setting. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality catering services that support residents’ health, wellbeing and enjoyment of mealtimes.

Key Responsibilities for our Second Chef’s

  • Assist the Head Chef in creating and maintaining structured cooking and cleaning schedules for all kitchen areas in line with company quality standards and CQC requirements.
  • Prepare and serve meals that meet special dietary requirements, including texture‑modified diets, allergen‑free meals, diabetic, vegetarian and culturally specific menus.
  • Maintain appropriate food stock levels, rotation and stock control procedures in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Update and manage kitchen equipment inventory, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, cleanliness, health and safety standards are met.
