2nd Chef Prestwick Care is a successful family-run business, and we have a great opportunity for a 2nd Chef at Bay View House. This is a chance to work for a growing care provider within the North East.

About the Role

We are seeking a 2nd Chef to join our team at Bay View House. In this role, the 2nd Chef will support the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in creating and maintaining cooking and cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodic) for all areas of the kitchen in line with the company’s quality philosophy.
  • Ensure that any special dietary meals are prepared correctly.
  • Maintain food stock controls in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Manage and update an inventory of kitchen equipment in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Ensure food handling, cleanliness, health and safety, and all procedures within the meal preparation areas operate to the highest possible standards.
  • Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work in the care home, providing guidance where appropriate.
  • Understand and implement the care home’s Health and Safety policy, as well as Emergency and Fire procedures.
  • Promote safe working practice in the care home.
