This is a full-time, on-site Resident Care Assistant role based in Whitley Bay. The Resident Care Assistant will support residents with daily living activities, such as personal care, mobility, dressing, and mealtime assistance, while promoting dignity and independence. The role includes monitoring and recording residents’ wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns to senior care staff or nursing colleagues, and following individual care plans. The Resident Care Assistant will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, including basic housekeeping tasks related to resident care. The position also involves building positive relationships with residents and their families, contributing to social and recreational activities, and collaborating effectively with the wider care team.
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in providing person-centred care, supporting daily living activities, and promoting residents’ dignity and independence.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with residents, families, and colleagues in a respectful and empathetic manner.
- Ability to follow care plans, observe and report changes in residents’ condition, and maintain accurate basic records.
- Reliability, strong time-management, and the capacity to work calmly under pressure as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding principles in a care setting.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the service.
- Previous experience in residential, nursing, or domiciliary care, or a related setting, is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care) is an advantage; willingness to undertake training is required.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to pass background and reference checks in line with regulatory requirements.
