Due to the needs of the Shared Service, an opportunity has arisen to recruit to a Revenues Officer post in the Council Tax team on a full-time permanent basis, based at Lancaster. This is a great team, whose responsibility for the collection of council tax income promptly and efficiently has become crucial to the Council, given current budgetary pressures.

Duties include:

  • Dealing with customers, by phone, correspondence and in person in relation to the administration, billing and collection of Council Tax.
  • Working as part of a team administering recovery procedures and attending Magistrates Court as required.
  • Maintenance of an online computerised system, including the verification and processing of applications for exemption/discount and disregards for Council Tax.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who can manage their own workload, to join this small but successful team. Good communication skills together with a customer care attitude are considered a necessity for this post.
