The Organisation

As a well-loved and established medical practice, Preston Grove Medical Centre is situated in the busy town of Yeovil on the Somerset/Dorset border. We are now looking for a Receptionist to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working 21 hours per week.

The working hours for this role are:

  • Monday 8.00am-12.00pm
  • Tuesday 08.00am-12.00pm
  • Wednesday 2.30pm-6.30pm
  • Friday 8.30am-6.30pm (including an hour unpaid lunch break)

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual with experience of working with the general public to join our well-loved surgery. Working in this part-time role, you will discover plenty of time to complete your other commitments and activities, maximising your work/life balance whilst still making a valuable contribution. You’ll be joining a small but welcoming team that will support you with all the training and development you’ll need to grow and thrive in your role.

The Role

As a Receptionist, you will provide a front-line reception and administrative service, helping ensure our practice runs smoothly and patients feel supported. Acting as the first point of contact for patients, you will deal with enquiries in person and over the phone, book appointments, update records, and help people get the right support. Working closely with doctors, nurses and colleagues, you will also support the wider administrative needs of the practice. This will include managing correspondence, supporting patient flow on the day, keeping waiting areas organised, and helping ensure information is available when needed.

About You

To be considered as a Receptionist, you will need:

  • Experience working with the general public
  • Good customer care skills
  • The ability to communicate sensitively with staff and patients, ensuring confidentiality at all times
  • Basic keyboard skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • At a minimum, GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4 - 9 (C - A*), including English and Maths

Other organisations may call this role Surgery Receptionist, Front Office Administrator, or Reception Assistant.
