The Role
As a HGV Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our operation—inspecting, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of HGVs. Your expertise will ensure every vehicle leaves the workshop safe, compliant, and ready for the road, helping to keep downtime to a minimum and our customers moving.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Complete MOT preparations and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.
- Carry out safety checks in line with company and legal requirements.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and apply effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and compliance documentation.
- Work to deadlines to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Support colleagues in the workshop, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- Adhere to health & safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Qualified HGV Technician / Mechanic (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- A current HGV Licence (Class 1 or 2) desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair & maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of HGV systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrics.
