Job Summary
The Manufacturing Material Accuracy Analyst improves the accuracy of materials used to build Prestige homes, lodges and buildings. The role compares approved bills of materials (BOMs) with what is issued, consumed, returned and recorded against each build, then reconciles those records to physical stock. Working with Production, Technical, Procurement, Stores, Finance and Internal Logistics, the analyst identifies the causes and value of discrepancies, secures approved corrections and prevents repeat losses. Reliable material information supports build quality, delivery, stock availability and margin.
Accountabilities
Material usage and BOM integrity
β’ Compare approved BOM quantities and specifications with actual material use by build, model and product family, including customer options and design revisions where applicable.
β’ Establish a clear audit trail for material issues, returns, substitutions, rework, scrap, offcuts and other non-standard use, distinguishing valid build variation from loss or recording error.
β’ Highlight inaccurate quantities, units of measure, item codes and specifications; agree proposed BOM or master-data changes with the authorised Technical and system owners before implementation.
β’ Check that approved engineering changes and product introductions are reflected in the correct BOM version and effective date before drawing conclusions from a variance.
Stock and transaction accuracy
β’ Reconcile materials issued and consumed in the ERP/MRP system with production records and physical stock, investigating gaps between the three sources.
β’ Review timing and completeness of booking, stock transfers, returns, scrap declarations, substitutions and adjustments; work with process owners to correct transactions at source.
β’ Support targeted cycle counts and stock checks on high-value or high-variance materials, documenting count differences and the evidence behind any recommended adjustment.
β’ Identify process or data weaknesses that cause shortages, duplicated issues, incorrect costs or distorted work-in-progress and stock balances.
Variance investigation and corrective action
β’ Prioritise discrepancies by quantity, financial value, recurrence and risk to production, quality or customer delivery.
β’ Investigate root causes with the people closest to the work, including BOM error, incorrect picking, unrecorded use, damage, waste, theft risk, supplier short delivery or transaction timing; record evidence before assigning a cause.
β’ Agree corrective actions with accountable owners, track completion and test whether the change reduces repeat variance.
β’ Escalate material losses, suspected control failures and unresolved high-value differences promptly through the Head of Internal Logistics and relevant functional leaders.
Reporting and continuous improvement
β’ Maintain clear, repeatable reports on BOM-to-actual variance, physical-to-system stock accuracy, scrap, adjustments and write-offs, with trends by material and product family.
β’ Present both quantity and cost impact, explain significant movements and distinguish confirmed savings from estimates.
β’ Recommend practical changes to material presentation, issue and return processes, data controls and shop-floor recording; help teams implement approved improvements.
β’ Support periodic reviews with Production, Technical, Procurement, Stores and Finance to agree priorities, resolve ownership and close aged issues.
Health and safety, quality and inclusion
β’ Follow site health and safety procedures when observing production or checking stock, and report hazards and unsafe practices.
β’ Escalate any material discrepancy that may affect product specification, traceability or customer quality; do not authorise unapproved substitutions.
β’ Work respectfully with colleagues across all departments and uphold company equality and diversity standards.
Key Measures of Success
β’ A sustained reduction in BOM-to-actual consumption variance, measured in quantity and value.
β’ Improved physical-to-system stock accuracy for the materials reviewed.
β’ Fewer unexplained adjustments and material write-offs, with improved visibility of the causes of loss.
β’ Timely closure and verified effectiveness of agreed corrective actions.
