Role Overview

Support Worker required to provide person-centred care and support to service users with learning disabilities (LD), autism, and mental health needs, including complex needs and challenging behaviour. This is a temporary, ad-hoc role with shifts paid at £13 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Support with dignity, consent, and choice.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support approaches.
  • Support daily living and community engagement in line with care plans.
  • Assist with medication administration (where trained and authorised).
  • Food hygiene and food preparation.
  • Dysphagia support needs (e.g., safe swallowing strategies as required).
  • Diabetes awareness (recognise and respond to care needs, follow plans).
  • Epilepsy awareness (understand seizure plans and escalation procedures).
  • Carry out moving and handling safely and confidently, in line with training and risk assessments.
  • Promote independence and well-being while maintaining safety at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • At least 12 months of UK care experience.
  • Experience supporting people with LD, autism, and mental health needs.
  • Complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to support personal care, including intimate care.
  • Knowledge/experience relevant to medication administration, diabetes awareness, dysphagia, epilepsy awareness, food hygiene/preparation, and moving and handling.
