Role Overview
Support Worker required to provide person-centred care and support to service users with learning disabilities (LD), autism, and mental health needs, including complex needs and challenging behaviour. This is a temporary, ad-hoc role with shifts paid at £13 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Support service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
- Support with dignity, consent, and choice.
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support approaches.
- Support daily living and community engagement in line with care plans.
- Assist with medication administration (where trained and authorised).
- Food hygiene and food preparation.
- Dysphagia support needs (e.g., safe swallowing strategies as required).
- Diabetes awareness (recognise and respond to care needs, follow plans).
- Epilepsy awareness (understand seizure plans and escalation procedures).
- Carry out moving and handling safely and confidently, in line with training and risk assessments.
- Promote independence and well-being while maintaining safety at all times.
Essential Requirements
- At least 12 months of UK care experience.
- Experience supporting people with LD, autism, and mental health needs.
- Complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Ability to support personal care, including intimate care.
- Knowledge/experience relevant to medication administration, diabetes awareness, dysphagia, epilepsy awareness, food hygiene/preparation, and moving and handling.
