Role Overview Support a young person in his early 20s who has learning disabilities and may present challenging behaviour.
The Support Worker will promote independence, safety, and positive outcomes through daily person-centred support within a caring home environment.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day support to the individual, including personal care, daily living tasks, and community access.
Support positive behaviour strategies and respond to challenging behaviour in line with agreed plans and risk assessments.
Encourage independence and skill development appropriate to the individual’s needs.
Support routines at home and during activities, maintaining a calm, respectful approach.
Use Makaton to communicate effectively (training/experience required).
Work on a rota basis , including evenings/weekends as required, supporting full-time hours.
Work comfortably in a home environment with pets (dogs and a cat) .
Support safe participation in leisure activities, including swimming (must be able to swim).
Requirements At least 12 months of relevant UK care experience .
Confident and experienced in supporting adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour .
Able to communicate using Makaton
