Our client is a rapidly expanding Group Training Association (GTA) with training centres in Hull, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. As a leading provider of engineering training, our client works with over 300 client companies, delivering Level 3 engineering apprenticeships and upskilling programmes. Partnering with some of the biggest names in engineering and manufacturing, our client plays a pivotal role in supporting the growth of engineering talent locally, regionally, and nationally.
We are seeking an experienced tutor/trainer ready to take the next step in their career by becoming a Department Team Leader for Fabrication and Welding, reporting to the Centre Manager. In this hybrid role you will lead a team of instructors to plan and deliver various apprenticeships in fabrication and welding trades such as Metal Fabricator, Pipe Welder and Pipefitter, as well as commercial courses, whilst also being responsible for some delivery. You will inspire and guide the next generation of engineers, sharing your expertise and industry knowledge to develop their skills, knowledge, and behaviours. No two days are the same, offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update the curriculum to meet industry standards.
- Lead the delivery of courses, including apprenticeship training and commercial courses, which includes:
- Ensuring the team follows the agreed syllabus and that schemes of work and lesson plans are created and followed.
- Planning the delivery of all fabrication and welding programmes, commercial and apprentice, across our client's sites.
- Ensuring the quality and consistency of delivery meets organisational standards and requirements.
- Carrying out learning walks, teaching and learning observations and deep dives in conjunction with the quality team.
Experience and Qualifications
- Significant industry experience in a fabrication and welding role, with knowledge of welding, pipefitting, plating, and sheet metal work, and expertise in at least one of these disciplines.
- A Level 3 qualification or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant fabrication/welding trade.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed) is required.
- Assessor and Verifier qualifications are desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Certified TWI coded weld inspector/trainer status is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Strong leadership, budget management, and IT skills are essential.
- If required, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake additional qualifications, the cost of which will be met by our client.
Location and Travel
This position requires regular travel to all of our client's sites. A valid driving licence and access to your own transport are essential, as regular travel between centres will be necessary. Mileage and bridge tolls will be covered by our client.
