The Field Care Supervisor is an integral part of the branch team. They will support the Registered Manager in managing and optimising the delivery of high-quality care, compliance with internal policy and procedure and regulatory requirements and overall operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe delivery of care at the registered location, including the development and implementation of accurate care plans and risk assessments for all clients, ensuring they are kept up to date.
  • Ensure and maintain accurate and up-to-date records for clients and colleagues, in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of Professional Carers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment and ensuring the safe delivery of client-centred, high quality care services.
  • Meet Professional Carers formally at least quarterly for direct supervision and keep written records. Include direct observation where consent is given.
  • Conduct annual appraisal of Professional Carers, identifying training and development needs and keeping records.
  • Facilitate quarterly team meetings, prepare agendas and maintain minutes.
  • Assist Care Planner, Field Care Manager (where applicable) and Registered Branch Manager with development and training programmes for Professional Carers.
  • Assist with recruitment to build capacity and ensure contingency within the service.
  • Use branch data to identify trends and themes, monitor performance and cascade learning where appropriate.
  • Ensure service delivery is people centred, accessible, flexible and reliable; undertake on-call duties on a rota basis.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments, considering physical, spiritual, emotional and social aspects for all clients and adapt care plans to evolving needs.
  • Ensure care is delivered in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005; perform MCA assessments when required and document them.
  • When a client lacks capacity, ensure decisions follow the best interest process, are least restrictive and documented.
  • Where required, ensure safe completion of MAR charts and safe administration of medication to clients, in line with policy.
  • Strictly adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an effective quality assurance system in consultation with the Care Planner, Field Care Manager and Registered Branch Manager, defining standards and monitoring outcomes continuously.
  • Attend and contribute to client reviews, including in-house and external meetings such as social services reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and families, involve them in care planning and address concerns.
  • Establish effective communication channels with clients, representatives, external healthcare providers, social services and community organisations to enhance care coordination.
  • Act appropriately in emergency situations, report incidents, respect client sensitivity and privacy, and respond to crises effectively, summoning appropriate assistance.
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of clients, colleagues, in line with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Promote a healthy and safe working environment and report H&S concerns to the manager immediately.
  • Ensure incident management, safeguarding and complaints processes are adhered to and managed appropriately.
  • If the Registered Branch Manager is absent, act on abuse allegations, reporting to local authority and regulator.
  • Act as an ambassador for Prestige Nursing & Care, promoting the business positively.
  • Support the business Environmental, Social and Governance strategy by promoting recycling and energy efficiency.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be required.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Relevant qualification in health and social care (e.g., QCF Level 2 or 3).
  • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols, risk management and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, friendly and professional.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and sudden changes in an organised manner.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter, able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
