The role of a medical receptionist is often referred to as a "care navigator" and that is exactly what we need now. Experience in this role would be useful but not vital since we would provide the training you need to be able to deliver a great service to our patients.

If you enjoy helping people and listening to them with the intention of trying to figure out how you can help them to access the services they need, then this role is for you. This means that you are not only supporting our patients, but our large clinical team too. You will need to feel comfortable with technology, and also with change since the NHS is required to constantly change to meet the emerging needs of our population.

Main duties of the job

The role of a care navigator is essentially a customer service role. Our patients need to access our services, but they do not always understand how wide ranging the skills are within our team. The successful candidate must have strong IT skills and be happy to learn how to use our clinical software, and have a confident telephone manner and good, face to face interpersonal skills.

It would be your main task to meet their needs in the most efficient manner which often includes directing them to any of the excellent community services available to us all in Burnley and the surrounding area. Some of the time we are unable to offer exactly what a patient wants, exactly when they want it, but it is the way in which you communicate what we can offer which will make you a good care navigator.

We are looking for a new colleague who can demonstrate a mature outlook on life and have strong work ethics. The role would appeal to someone who likes to be organised, can maintain a good work/home balance, gaining fulfilment from both. If our new colleague is the parent of school age children there must be robust child care arrangements in place.

Whilst we have an informal style, our drive is to provide high quality, professional health care, within a supportive, friendly and caring environment at the heart of which is constant learning.

About us

We have a large clinical team with a wide range of skills and our administrators also offer an excellent skill set. If you want to work with a high-performing team, but in an easy-going atmosphere, with supportive employers and great colleagues, then we should be a good fit for you. We want to offer the best service we can to our patients, but we also want our staff to be happy and healthy and we work tirelessly to ensure that the environment our team works in provides the setting for this to happen.
