About our Medical Practice

Prescient has four core practices: Commercial, Competitive Strategy, Medical and Value, Pricing and Access. We specialise in supporting our biopharma clients in making insightful strategic choices for their products and portfolios. The Medical Practice is the scientific engine of the Prescient platform. We are insight-led and evidence-driven, partnering with many of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies across oncology, rare disease, immunology, neuroscience and beyond.

The Medical Practice works across three core pillars: Medical Strategy and Planning; Integrated Evidence Strategy and Generation; and Organisational Excellence. This role sits within Medical Strategy and Planning, where we help medical affairs teams set strategic direction and plan the evidence and activities that support their products across the life cycle. Our work spans medical strategy and planning, evidence planning, literature review and synthesis and advisory work with medical affairs leaders.

About the opportunity

As a Principal, you will lead complex medical and evidence strategy projects for global pharma and biotech clients, working with practice leadership and taking accountability for high-quality, on-budget delivery. You will run multiple projects at the same time, act as a trusted advisor to senior medical stakeholders and lead, coach and develop the teams who deliver the work.

You will build a recognised presence across several client accounts, growing existing relationships and winning new clients. You will lead proposal development and pitches, working with client partners. You will also take part in or lead internal projects that advance Prescient's capabilities.

Rigorous analytical thinking, with the ability to form hypotheses from limited information while keeping a balanced view. The ability to distil complex clinical and regulatory matters into a clear business case and roadmap for execution. An entrepreneurial, growth-focused mindset that you apply to clients, the business and the colleagues you develop.

Key responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Deliver complex medical and evidence strategy projects, working through others to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and on budget and being hands on where needed.
  • Strategic Insight: Oversee research and analysis, guiding the team from findings to clear strategic implications, and challenge clients' thinking to stretch beyond the obvious
  • Deliverable Development: Own client deliverables end to end, including the design and facilitation of high-impact client workshops
  • Project Management: Run multiple projects at once, keeping a strong grip on efficiency, profitability and quality
  • Client Management: Act as a trusted scientific and strategic advisor to senior medical stakeholders, building relationships that extend across client teams
  • Business Development: Grow existing accounts and win new clients, with support from client partners, leading proposal development and pitches
  • Capability Building: Take part in or lead internal projects that advance Prescient's capabilities, such as new team training, methodologies, systems and tools, and contribute to thought leadership
  • People Leadership: Line-manage, coach and develop team members, and act as a role model for Prescient's culture

Required experience and skills

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in life sciences; an advanced degree is desirable
  • Seven or more years of relevant professional experience, including significant consulting experience, in a corporate, business or consulting environment, which may include pharma consulting, pharma business intelligence or pharma data analytics. A mix of industry and consulting experience is preferred
  • Two or more years of experience in oncology, immunology or biosimilars is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of drug development and approval processes, clinical trials and patient segments, plus GCP, FDA, EMA and other relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Strong scientific depth and an understanding of the Medical Affairs trends shaping client needs
  • A track record of building client relationships and growing accounts
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in your area of specialisation, such as publications, new methodologies, speaking engagements, conferences or a leadership role in a professional association
  • Strong consulting skills and a proven ability to lead multiple complex projects through effective matrix leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; direct line management experience

What we offer

  • Highly competitive base salary plus Performance Related Bonus and a range of benefits, including private medical and dental insurance
  • A strong values-based culture which is actively lived and promoted
  • A team made up of smart and supportive people
  • Leaders who are accessible and listen, ambitious for our teams, and committed to coaching and sharing their expertise
  • An environment where our thinking and our work are all innovative, imaginative and bright
  • Ongoing and tailored career development that stretches you and is based on your ambition, abilities and interests – not boxes
