The role of the Housekeeper is to work within the Domestic and Laundry departments as and when required while also working within the Christian ethos of Aaron House.
Responsibilities
- To clean and tidy toilets and bathrooms
- To clean and tidy bedrooms and make beds as required
- To clean and tidy corridors and sitting rooms
- To clean and tidy offices, treatment rooms etc
- To follow procedures for the appropriate disposal of waste
- To use all equipment according to appropriate instructions
- To maintain dignity, respect and confidentiality as required
- To support care staff in meeting the needs of the residents
- To respect the personal needs and wishes of the residents at all times
- To follow appropriate health and safety procedures
- To maintain written records as required
- To wash, iron, itemise and distribute residents’ clothes
- To wash and iron all household laundry e.g. sheets, pillowcases, napkins etc
- Minor sewing repairs
- Ensure that all appliances are kept in good order and free from abuse, in compliance with Health and Safety regulations
- To carry out any other reasonable duty such as Cleaning Duties as required by the management of the Home, which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents
Skills and Qualifications
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people or those with a learning disability
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home
- Be willing to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council and to maintain that registration
