Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to assist in providing care and support to adults with learning and physical disabilities at Willowbrook. The role involves promoting independence, personal development, and community engagement while ensuring a safe and supportive living environment. The successful candidate must be committed to working within the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
About Willowbrook: Willowbrook is a supported housing scheme accommodating nine tenants with learning disabilities across different residential units. Additionally, Topley Terrace provides housing for three adults with physical disabilities. Our goal is to provide person-centred support, fostering independence and a fulfilling quality of life for all tenants.
About The Role
- Key Responsibilities:
- Support for Tenants: Assist tenants in achieving their goals as outlined in their Person-Centred Plans. Provide support in daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and community participation. Encourage and assist tenants in developing relationships, engaging in leisure activities, and participating in congregational life. Offer spiritual, emotional, and social support tailored to individual needs. Advocate for tenants' rights and encourage self-advocacy. Ensure the well-being of tenants by adhering to Willowbrook's policies and procedures. Promote positive relationships with staff, professional bodies, and families.
- Administration & Compliance: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required. Uphold confidentiality in line with Willowbrook policies. Identify and report maintenance or security concerns.
- Training & Development: Attend staff meetings and training sessions. Stay informed on best practices and new developments in disability support.
- Other Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support tenants and maintain the quality of care.
Essential Criteria:
- Understanding of learning disabilities and principles of care.
- Experience working in a caring environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
- Commitment to working with individuals with learning disabilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and sleep-in duties.
Desirable Criteria:
- QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
- Knowledge of best practices in supported living environments.

- Knowledge of the current philosophy and best practice in the provision of support structures for people with learning disability.
