Main function of job: To assist with the care and support of the residents within the Christian ethos and aims of River House.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
River House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) and is situated at 131 Central Promenade, Newcastle. The purpose-built Home accommodates 29 residents. The residents have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency. The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
CRITERIA
- QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Essential Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
- Willing to undertake NVQ / QCF training;
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment;
- Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post.
- Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).
- SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
- Be willing to work additional hours to fulfil the requirements of the Home;
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland;
- Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council, by the appointee, is a requirement of this position.
