Are you a passionate cook who enjoys preparing nutritious and high-quality meals? Trinity House is looking for a dedicated Cook to assist in planning and preparing meals that cater to the dietary needs of our residents in a caring and supportive environment.
About Us
The Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, providing care within a Christian-based ethos. Corkey House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services). The Home accommodates 35 residents who have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency. The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
About The Role
- Assisting the Cook Manager with food preparation, cooking, and baking
- Preparing and cooking meals for residents
- Preparing vegetables and assisting with snacks such as tea, sandwiches, and suppers
- Serving food to residents
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen, including work areas, shelves, drawers, and appliances
- Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen hygiene
- Disposing of rubbish appropriately
- Attending staff meetings and participating in training sessions
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties necessary for the support and well-being of the residents
This role may require moving furniture as part of daily duties.

Required Criteria
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a catering and residential environment
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Essential Experience of catering outside a domestic setting
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
Desired Criteria
- NVQ2 in Food Preparation & Cooking (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience of working with older people
