Salary: £12.90 per hour (no NVQ), £12.96 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care, £13.00 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care

Hours: 24 hours per week (2 posts) 36 hours per week (2 posts)

About Us

The Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, providing care in a Christian-based environment. Adelaide House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services). The Home accommodates 45 residents who have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency. The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.

About The Role

  • Providing compassionate care to residents, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
  • Assisting residents with dressing, personal hygiene, mobility, and daily activities
  • Encouraging independence while offering support where needed
  • Administering medication (after appropriate training)
  • Supporting residents with social and recreational activities
  • Helping residents exercise their rights and make choices about their daily lives
  • Accompanying residents on trips, appointments, and outings
  • Maintaining accurate records (both written and computerised)
  • Following safety procedures and NISCC Code of Practice standards
  • Attending training and staff meetings to develop your skills
  • Being a team player, working alongside staff to provide the best possible care

Required Criteria

  • Willing to undertake relevant training e.g. induction training, or NVQ / QCF level 2
  • Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post
  • Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment)
  • Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
  • Willing to maintain registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council
  • Awareness of health and safety practices within a working environment
  • Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people
  • Must be willing to work flexibly to fulfil the requirements of the Home

Desired Criteria

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Relevant statutory training e.g. Health and Safety, Fire Awareness and Manual Handling
  • Experience of working with older people
  • Experience of delivering activity programmes
  • Experience of working in a residential setting
  • Experience of administering medication
