Prepworld is looking for a QC Technologist to ensure that Prepworld receives fruit according to the prescribed raw material specifications, conducting all relevant quality inspections of raw material at point of intake and maintaining them throughout the chain. Your role will also include supporting the supplier technical function and working closely with the wider business in ensuring that Prepworld produces high quality product for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine quality inspections of raw material fruit, including taste panel, checking defect levels, sugar levels, acidity, pressure, and temperature as necessary, against the raw material specification, on arrival and upon request.
  • Work closely with the wider business, including our suppliers, Procurement, Stock, Raw Material and Production, ensuring that product quality issues are continuously communicated.
  • Carry out routine daily duties, which will include but is not limited to ensuring the daily delivery schedule is obtained; completing QC web reports; obtaining and entering test results onto the raw materials intake sheets; completing daily RAG and waste report for the wider business and taking relevant photos of the incoming fruit as per training and requirements provided.
  • Collecting fruit samples for testing which will involve manual handling and lifting of fruit containers as per training and requirements provided.
  • Conduct label checks of fruit stock upon arrival, verifying the details against the intake system to and cross-referencing information with details provided by Procurement department to ensure that the correct quantity and suitable quality of stock has been delivered.
  • Take responsibility for maintenance of Quality Control equipment, undertaking daily equipment checks and calibrating it when necessary, identifying issues and notifying management in case of equipment loss, damage or breakdown.
  • Ensure that you always follow the correct fruit rejection and non-conformance process.
  • Role will involve manual handling and the ability to withstand working in cold storage conditions on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (essential)
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under and manage pressure (essential)
  • Proven time management skills; accustomed to working with and meeting time critical deadlines (essential)
  • Good numerical skills, ability to analyse and interpret data (specifically % calculations on a daily basis) (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of quality control systems such as Durofel, FTA, and grower approval systems (desirable)
  • Experience of stock control/rotation (desirable)
  • Previous knowledge of fruit quality control, fruit storage procedures and fruit handling (desirable)
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English (essential)
  • Self-organised approach and the ability to plan a workload (essential)
  • Flexible approach and be willing to adapt ways of working to support team requirements (essential)

Days of work: Sunday - Wednesday

Hours: 07:00 - 19:30

Pay: Starting at £12.61 per hour, potentially rising through to £12.92 and then £13.21 after full training and development (subject to 4.1% increase from 6th April).

Location: Prepworld (Northfleet, DA11 8HH)
