Meet the Team: The Preply Engineering Team provides the tools to help unlock human potential through learning. At Preply, we build scalable and reliable applications using Python/Django, with a strong focus on data, A/B testing, and feedback from students and tutors to guide our decisions. We prioritize product quality through robust monitoring, metrics analysis, and continuous optimization. Thanks to our advanced CI/CD processes, we release code 50–60 times per day. As a fast‑growing company, we face a wide range of technical challenges, giving our engineers plenty of opportunities to grow and make an impact.

You will be joining the Monetization Tribe, which drives and scales Preply’s revenue‑generating systems and flows, with a focus on subscriptions, bookings, and payments infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and grow two high‑performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Coach and develop engineers through regular feedback, mentorship, and career growth opportunities, with a focus on creating an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Define and drive the long‑term vision and strategy for the teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and product direction.
  • Identify and prioritize high‑impact opportunities in collaboration with Product, Data, and Design, ensuring teams are focused on the most valuable initiatives.
  • Own execution and delivery, ensuring technical quality, reliability, and timely outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership: guide system design and architectural decisions, help navigate trade‑offs, and remove technical blockers.
  • Champion engineering best practices, from code quality to scalable processes and tech stack evolution.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with stakeholders across the business to amplify impact and ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes.

What you need to succeed:

  • Background: Degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3‑5+ years of experience in building, leading, and scaling development teams.
  • People‑Centric Approach and Team Building Skills: Passion for building strong, results‑oriented teams and utilizing a team‑based approach as a primary means of achieving results.
  • Provide technical expertise: Driving engineering best practices, adoption of tools, and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Results‑Oriented: Driving performance. Motivate team on setting and achieving ambitious, business‑focused, and measurable goals.
  • Ethical Leadership: Lead the team by example, demonstrating unwavering commitment to ethical behavior and integrity.
