At Angling Direct, we're looking for an enthusiastic SEO Content Writer to help us grow our online presence and connect with thousands of anglers across the UK and beyond. This role is perfect for someone who loves fishing and wants to combine that passion with creativity, digital marketing, and content creation.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our growing team, you'll play a key role in helping customers discover the products, advice and inspiration they're looking for online.

Your Responsibilities

Create & Optimise Content

  • Write compelling product descriptions, category content and website copy.
  • Optimise content using targeted keywords and SEO best practices.
  • Enhance backend elements such as meta titles and descriptions.

Research & Discover Opportunities

  • Carry out keyword research to identify emerging trends.
  • Spot new opportunities to improve search visibility and traffic.

Develop SEO Strategy

  • Help shape and implement Angling Direct's SEO strategy.
  • Ensure content remains aligned with changing search engine best practices.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with Trading, Marketing and Category teams.
  • Develop engaging content that supports business goals and customer needs.

Monitor Performance

  • Use tools such as Google Analytics (GA4) and Semrush to measure success.
  • Analyse traffic, keyword rankings and conversion data to drive improvements.

Recommend Improvements

  • Identify opportunities to improve website performance and search rankings.
  • Help deliver an outstanding online experience for our customers.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • A genuine passion for angling and understanding of fishing terminology
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to turn technical angling knowledge into simple, engaging content
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Experience in SEO, content writing or digital marketing
  • Keyword research experience
  • Knowledge of website structure and web architecture
  • Familiarity with SEO tools such as Semrush or Google Analytics
