About the role: The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking a highly organised and proactive Academic Projects and Events Manager to support the work of the Department of Academic Research (DAR), with a particular focus on the Qur’anic Studies Unit (QSU). Reporting to the Head of the Qur’anic Studies Unit, the postholder will manage academic events, departmental projects, and operational activities across DAR and QSU. This includes overseeing conferences, seminars, lectures, book launches, and hybrid events from planning through to completion and evaluation, while working closely with internal stakeholders across Communications, Estates and Services, Finance, and IT. The role will also provide administrative and project management support to the Head of Unit and wider team, including financial reporting, operational planning, publication coordination, and departmental risk management. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project and events professional to contribute to a globally respected academic institution and support a wide range of impactful scholarly initiatives.

What we’re looking for:

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, with relevant experience in project, events, or academic administration.
  • Proven experience managing projects and events from planning through to delivery and evaluation, including working within scope and budget.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience coordinating in-person, online, and hybrid events, ideally within an academic or Higher Education environment.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work flexibly under pressure.
