Are you fluent in English and Tigrinya] and interested in using your language skills to help people communicate?
Premium Linguistic Services (PLS) is looking for reliable and confident bilingual individuals to provide face-to-face interpreting services in Northampton and surrounding areas.
Whether you are an experienced interpreter or new to the profession, we welcome your application.
No formal interpreting qualification or previous interpreting experience is required.
As a Freelance Interpreter, you will help people overcome language barriers by facilitating clear, accurate and impartial communication.
You will attend face-to-face appointments in a variety of professional and community settings, including healthcare, local authorities and other public services.
This is a flexible, self-employed opportunity, allowing you to accept assignments based on your availability.
Please note that assignments are offered according to client demand, and a minimum volume of work cannot be guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, accurate and impartial interpretation
- Attend Face-to-Face assignments at agreed locations and times
- Convey the meaning and tone of conversations as accurately as possible
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Remain impartial and maintain professional boundaries
- Communicate respectfully with everyone involved
- Be punctual, reliable and prepared for assignments
- Remain calm and professional, including during sensitive situations
- Maintain a high standard of professional conduct
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A formal interpreting qualification is not required.
We welcome both qualified and non-qualified applicants. Previous interpreting experience or a relevant qualification is an advantage, but it is not essential.

- Are fluent in English and Target language
- Have strong listening and verbal communication skills
- Can process and communicate information accurately
- Are confident communicating with people from different backgrounds
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and impartiality
- Are reliable, professional and punctual
- Can remain calm and focused in different situations
- Are willing and able to travel locally for assignments
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold a valid DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one – a valid DBS is mandatory and must be in place before undertaking any assignments with PLS.
