I'm currently working with a leading prime residential main contractor renowned for delivering exceptional prime residential, heritage conservation and bespoke construction projects across London and the South of England. This is an opportunity to join a business trusted with some of Britain's most prestigious private residences, boutique hotels, and historically significant buildings. With craftsmanship and quality at the heart of everything they do, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for the successful delivery of projects ranging from £2m–£30m.
The Opportunity: As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in the commercial management of complex, high-value projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the project delivery team, you'll ensure robust cost control, effective procurement, and strong financial performance while maintaining the exceptional standards the business is known for. Projects include Grade I and II listed properties, prime residential refurbishments, contemporary new builds, sporting estates, and grand country homes, each requiring meticulous attention to detail and a high level of commercial and technical expertise. This is a site-based position offering the opportunity to work on some of the UK's finest residential and heritage developments within a collaborative, quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the commercial delivery of projects from procurement through to final account
- Preparing and issuing subcontract enquiries, analysing returns, and negotiating subcontract packages
- Preparing and administering subcontract orders and contractual documentation
- Managing subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, remeasurements, and final accounts
- Preparing and submitting client valuations and applications for payment
- Identifying, pricing, negotiating, and agreeing project variations
- Monitoring project costs, cash flow, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Working closely with site and project management teams to identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Supporting the preparation of monthly cost reports and financial reviews
- Ensuring contractual compliance and maintaining accurate commercial records
About You:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent construction related qualification preferred
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
- Experience in prime residential, heritage, refurbishment or bespoke construction projects is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of standard forms of contract and commercial management
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Well-organised with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Able to work collaboratively while managing multiple commercial priorities
