My client are a high-craft joinery and interior-fit-out company, offering end-to-end bespoke interior joinery services. From design and planning, through to manufacture and installation aimed at the luxury residential market. Their emphasis on craftsmanship, custom materials, and close collaboration with other trades and clients positions them as a tailored, quality-focused provider of bespoke interiors rather than a volume joinery firm.
Duties
- Develop joinery designs and technical construction drawings for client approval and manufacture.
- Translate design briefs and intent drawings into high-quality, manufacturable design solutions.
- Work closely with project management and workshop staff to ensure drawings meet design intent and are suitable for manufacture.
- Research and incorporate details of third-party items into drawings for seamless integration of appliances, ironmongery, etc.
- Ensure appropriate levels of detail in all drawings at approval, manufacture, and installation stages, including bills of materials and purchase logs.
- Consider health and safety throughout the design and drafting process, ensuring feasibility of installation and end-user use.
- Track and manage drawings and issued revisions.
- Work closely with external design teams to ensure design intent and expectations are met.
- Attend design team meetings both on-site and off-site.
- Proficiently use 3D Autodesk Inventor design software (experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling software considered if willing to transfer skills to Inventor).
Requirements
- Minimum 5 yearsβ experience as a joinery draughtsman or in a similar role.
- Experienced in technical design and development of workshop drawings for high-quality bespoke furniture and joinery.
- Exceptional knowledge of joinery design and construction, including fabrication and finishing procedures.
- Broad understanding of joinery materials, including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, and hardware.
- Strong technical expertise with the ability to solve problems and work with different materials such as wood, metal, glass, laminates, and veneers.
- Good understanding of materials, finishes, and current manufacturing techniques and technologies.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor design software (SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling experience acceptable if prepared to transfer skills).
- Keen eye for detail and high attention to accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internally and client-facing.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Highly motivated and proactive.
