A growing specialist contractor within the interiors and internal fit-out sector is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a pivotal role in the commercial management of projects across London and the South East. You will be joining a busy and established team delivering quality drylining, internal fit-out and associated packages.
The Role
As a Senior QS you will take ownership of the full commercial cycle of projects, working closely with project leadership, estimating and site teams to ensure robust cost control, contract administration and commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account. Youβll provide strategic input, manage key contracts and support commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cost planning, budgeting and commercial strategy from feasibility through to project completion.
- Prepare detailed estimates, bills of quantities, tender documentation and cost reports.
- Administer contracts and manage valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
- Procure and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring value and compliance.
- Monitor cost performance, forecasting, cashflow and risk management throughout delivery.
- Liaise with clients, project teams and stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes and support delivery.
- Mentor and support junior commercial staff and contribute to commercial processes and improvement.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within the construction industry.
- Strong commercial acumen with solid understanding of cost management, procurement and contract administration.
- Excellent working knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC) and measurement/cost systems.
- High level of accuracy, analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency with QS/estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Clear communication and negotiation skills with confidence in stakeholder engagement.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites across the region.
Desirable / Advantageous Experience:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline and professional accreditation (e.g. MRICS) or actively working towards chartership.
- Previous estimating experience or exposure to internal finishes/drylining packages.
