A well established main contractor specialising in high end fit out is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead their design function across a portfolio of prestigious projects in London. This is a key leadership role within a growing business delivering hotel, prime residential and luxury retail schemes typically ranging from £8m to £20m.
You’ll be responsible for managing the full design lifecycle, leading a team, and ensuring design output aligns with programme, technical requirements and client expectations.
The Role- Lead, manage and develop an internal design team to deliver high quality technical and production drawings
- Oversee the design process from concept through to completion across multiple live projects
- Develop and manage design programmes in line with project milestones
- Coordinate design information to ensure timely issue for client approval and construction
- Work closely with Project Managers, commercial and site teams to ensure smooth delivery
- Chair design meetings and manage stakeholder communication across all levels
- Ensure compliance with CDM, fire safety and building regulations
- Drive consistency, quality and continuous improvement across the design function
- Manage design resources effectively across multiple schemes
- Oversee document control processes alongside internal teams
- Degree qualified in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Design Engineering or similar
- Proven experience managing design teams within a fit out or construction environment
- Strong understanding of high end interiors and the full design to installation process
- Experience working on projects within the £8m–£20m range
- Proficient with design software and familiar with BIM processes
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, CDM and fire safety requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Well organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
