I'm working with an exciting design consultancy that has forged an excellent reputation for providing design management expertise on projects across London. Due to continued growth and several new project wins, they’re looking to appoint both an Assistant Design Manager and a Design Manager to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety of working across complex construction projects while benefiting from the support and development of an experienced design management team.
The Role
You’ll be embedded within major construction projects, working closely with leading main contractors while remaining part of a specialist design management consultancy. Most team members typically support two live projects, giving you exposure to a broad range of schemes and clients. Projects are generally based in London and include:
- Commercial office developments
- CAT A and CAT B office fit outs
- Cut and carve refurbishments
- Hotel developments
- Super Prime residential
Project values typically range from £30m to £70m. The roles will be primarily site based, with some hybrid working depending on the project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to completion.
- Manage design information between consultants, subcontractors and the site team.
- Monitor design programmes and help resolve technical issues.
- Attend design and project meetings.
- Review drawings and ensure information is issued in line with the construction programme.
- Support the delivery team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
About You
For the Assistant Design Manager role you’ll ideally have around one to three years’ experience within construction. For the Design Manager position you’ll already have experience managing the design process on live construction projects. You’ll ideally have experience working for a main contractor, although applicants from architectural or consultancy backgrounds will also be considered, if you’ve had exposure to construction delivery.
