Join a rapidly expanding specialist repairs, maintenance and compliance contractor with over 30 years’ experience. My client is a long-established fire, electrical and property compliance provider supporting local authorities, housing associations, and public sector landlords across London, the Home Counties, Central, East and Southern England. With c.500 staff in the group and over £60m turnover last year, the business is scaling fast following private equity investment and the acquisition of a second compliance company. They are now expanding their Damp & Mould Division, already delivering for major public sector clients. The department is forecasting significant growth over the next 12–18 months — providing genuine long-term career opportunities.
The Role: You will carry out detailed property inspections, diagnosing damp, mould, condensation and ventilation issues across social housing stock. Working closely with schedulers, multi-trade operatives, residents and client representatives, you will ensure accurate reporting, timely delivery of remedial works and full compliance with legislation and contractual KPIs.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Completing damp, mould and condensation surveys across domestic properties
- Identifying root causes such as structural defects, leaks, lifestyle factors or poor ventilation
- Completing detailed technical reports with clear recommendations
- Scoping remedial works for operatives and contractors
- Carrying out post-inspection visits to confirm works are completed to standard
- Ensuring compliance with damp & mould legislation, HHSRS and client requirements
- Liaising with residents, housing officers and internal field teams
- Uploading survey findings, photos and updates to internal systems
- Raising follow-on jobs and ensuring accurate documentation
- Managing priorities, urgent cases and vulnerable resident referrals

Ideal Candidate:
- Experience as a Damp & Mould Surveyor, Property Surveyor, Repairs Surveyor or similar
- Strong diagnostic knowledge (damp types, building pathology, ventilation, HHSRS etc.)
- Experience in social housing or public sector property preferred
- Excellent communication skills with a calm, resident-focused approach
- Strong report-writing skills and good IT literacy
- Able to manage your own diary and work independently
- Full UK driving licence
Package & Hours:
- Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 (depending on experience) plus optional bonus scheme if extra surveys are undertaken
- Hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
- Location: Field-based either in Beds, Essex/Herts, or North London with occasional office presence in the Chigwell / Hainault area
- Company vehicle or allowance (depending on client setup)
